First, let me apologize for this obnoxiously arrogant photograph of me drinking espresso at a counter. This photo was taken by one of the directors that I produce for and according to him, there is no better visual description of who I am than this candidly shot image.

I'm on my way to a pre-production meeting. I’m holding my phone and my wallet in one hand and drinking coffee with the other. I just finished paying for my coffee and his. I’m on a conference call. One ear bud in and one ear open to the world around me. My thumb is next to the mute button. And I'm people watching. For better or for worse, that’s me. But enough about me.

About Me

If you’re as much of a stalker as I hope you are, you’ll learn at the very bottom of this site that I’m currently the Director of Production at a company called Alkemy X. Before this, I was an Executive Producer at a few different companies, a Line Producer, a Production Manager, a Coordinator and I once had the illustrious title of Production Assistant—pretty much every production position without an actual skill. I still do whatever is needed at any given moment during crunch time and I never freak out. People seem to like that. It calms the fear mongers, the anxious, and the insecure. I’ve produced comedy, lifestyle, docu, food, real people, cars, toys, kids, babies, dogs, cats, groundhogs, aerials, hidden camera, branded content, IMAX, music videos, I could go on. Politicians, criminals, politicians who are criminals, patients, doctors, KOLs, homeless people, billionaires, athletes, rock stars, movie stars, stars with no actual talent at all, celebrity chefs, regular chefs, and just regular people. Here's a partial list of some brands that I’ve worked with over the past few years—mostly in collaboration with Ad Agencies or Networks, but in some cases directly.

BMW, Bose, Bud Light, Buick, Canon, Capri Sun, Crest, Dial, Doubletree, ebay, Food Network, Google, Hampton Inn, Headspace, HGTV, Hulu, IBM, IKEA, Mitsubishi, Panera, Peloton, Prudential, Realtor, Samsung, Subaru, Target, USPS, Wayfair, and Xfinity.

Where I've Been All Your Life

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION / EXECUTIVE PRODUCER  ALKEMY X

2012-Present

I never thought I'd be anywhere for over 10 years. But I love this place! It's action packed and intense. But it’s intensely good. There’s a whole lot happening all the time and it’s changing constantly which suits my self diagnosed A.D.D. perfectly. I suppose all of our change is due to the ever changing world. We endeavor to constantly be evolving in today's constantly evolving media landscape. We produce all kinds of stuff. Like commercials (for every screen imaginable), TV shows, promos, VFX for shows like The Righteous Gemstones, Wednesday, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and a boatload of others. Me specifically? I’m a Producer there. The Director of Production and one of the Executive Producers to be precise (and little chippy about it). I'm responsible for the design and execution of Alkemy's strategic approach to all aspects of production and the management of the creative talent whose skills bring live action projects to life.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER / LINE PRODUCER

ACCORDION

2008-2012

Accordion is a commercial production company owned by famed Director, my friend and mentor, Jim McGorman. Every fundamental truth that I know in the business of filmmaking I learned either from or alongside Jim McGorman. We built Accordion together. I served as the Executive Producer of the company and Line Producer on our projects. We figured a whole bunch of stuff out about life, directing, producing, making money, making friends, having fun creating cool stuff and leaving things better than we found them. We became known to clients as “Jim and Jim” or “Two Jim’s, no waiting” and often times as “Jim the Director” and “Jim the Producer”, hence the URL.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER / HEAD OF PRODUCTION

SBK PICTURES

2000-2008

For a period of about 25 years, SBK Pictures was nationally recognized as one of the top production companies in the country not located in Santa Monica or Chelsea. SBK was known for having done things the right way and the greatest growth of my career occurred here. The company was owned by its directors--who during my tenure were Jeffrey Berry and Jim McGorman. But in addition, I worked with a select group of wonderful people who were very good at their jobs and who changed my life forever and for better.

POST PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

MATERIAL EDIT

2000-2000

Director/Editor, Peter Martinez, and Line Producer, Gary Romano, left The End (below) and started their own post-production company called Material Edit. They courted me and took me with them. I was poached and proud of it! I learned how to manage editors, post finishing, bidding, scheduling, and technology. It was a great experience for seeing the post side of the business, but I missed the calm serenity of hastily solving production problems.

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

THE END

1998-2000

The End has essentially morphed into what is today known as Believe Media. We had directors like Zack Snyder, Anouk and Erik Ifergan. The End was a rock star company in the late 90s. We literally worked with rock stars all the time. Madonna. I said it!—Madonna. And Jay-Z before anybody knew who he was. And Puff Daddy when he was still Puff Daddy. And Tori Amos. And a bunch of other people who needed music videos in the 90s. We were there for them! And we honestly weren’t even a music video company. I think we just did that for fun. We mostly made commercials. BIG ones. For BIG brand names. With BIG lavish budgets and bountiful craft service arrangements and lots of first class travel. It was the Clinton era. The 90s baby...the 90s!

SALES ASSISTANT

H.S.I.

1997-1998

I made a bunch of reels for Paul Hunter and Peggy Sirota on 3/4" videotape and had bike messengers deliver them to agencies. Bill Sandwick still worked here then and he seemed to know what he was doing.

INTERN

CROSSROADS FILMS

1997-1997

Crossroads Films is where this fairytale began. I interned there whilst still a film student but Mark Pellington taught me more in 10 mins with a Pixelvision camera than I learned in 4 (or something) years in film school. I thought I wanted to be a screenwriter before being relegated to the accounting department here where I helped a nice group of “ladies” who collectively lived in all the boroughs of New York City other than Manhattan. This was exotic to me. It took about half a day of me cross referencing numbers in wrap books and actuals to realize that I wanted to be a Line Producer of commercials (or really anyone of the top 3 lines on section 1A of the AICP budget form). After graduation I called my internship coordinator, Frank Dituri, and with a belly full of focus and determination tricked him into hiring me as a Production Assistant. And off I went.
